Portable Power Solutions (PPS Ltd) is a small company rurally located at Bampton Business Centre, approx. 2 miles from Bampton village centre.  We started trading in 2003 and have achieved worldwide success in selling and supporting a range of specialist IT communications equipment. We have an immediate vacancy for a part time person to join our small friendly team  
We can offer applicants flexibility to adjust the exact starting & finishing time to suit their home/family commitments, but guideline hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm approximately
Duties will include:  
  • Answering incoming calls politely and promptly and directing calls or providing information where relevant
  • Using Excel to produce and update stockroom lists and record incoming/outgoing stock serial numbers
  • Using Email (Outlook) to communicate with customers and suppliers
  • Processing of customer orders including collating of items from stockroom, packing and arranging delivery to UK & worldwide destinations
  • On-Line booking of couriers/delivery drivers
  • Dealing with delivery issues
  • Checking products prior to packing ready for shipment
  • Receiving in-coming goods including checking deliveries for errors and exceptions, and moving to our stockroom
  • Co-ordinating and follow-through of delivery exceptions
  • Checking suppliers and courier invoices against goods received
  • Dealing with customer returns (RMA) including contacting customers via phone and email and following through of returns, repairs and replacements
  • Ordering of stationery and other office supplies


Other duties could include: 

  • Provide support to Director and Sales staff by undertaking Research on products and companies using the Internet
  • Processing of on-line and telephone credit card transactions
  • Obtaining competitive quotations for courier services and monitoring our courier expenditure
Must be customer focused
Confident and polite telephone manner
Good administration skills with excellent attention to detail, getting orders right first time is paramount
IT skills including:

Word – Create basic documents including tables
Excel – Create and Edit spreadsheets using simple formulae and formatting
Outlook – Create, Reply, Send Emails including attachments. Filing of Emails
Internet – Using search engines for research of information
ACT customer Database – previous use of a contact database would be useful but not essential as training can be given

Ability to work on own, without supervision and take responsibility for smooth running of office when others are absent
Able to work to tight deadlines/under pressure when dealing with urgent customer requirements
Must be friendly and good communicator – we are a small company and ability to work well with others is essential

Suitable applicants will be invited for interview at our offices in Bampton, and may be asked to also undertake a brief IT skills test (Email, Excel, Internet, and Word) at the time of interview
Statutory 3% employer plus 5% employee paid into the Nest scheme or other fund if registered
5 Weeks per year, or equivalent if hourly paid.
Holiday entitlement commences 1st Jan – 31st December and calculated on a pro rata basis.
PPS is closed over the Christmas period, any non-statutory holiday need to be taken out of allowance
